Peter,

Why not start here - http://www.lctm.info/Biblioteca/Catalogos/Marklin/index.php

There are a large number available for download, and while I admit that reading online is not the same as browsing one in your favourite armchair, if you've got a laptop it's pretty darn close. BigGrin And you never wear them out.

If you want to cut down your work and download times, I'd suggest you pick a start date that you know your items probably fall into, and download for each 5 years.

ie start with say 1970, get '75, '80, '85 and so on. There are only a few items that did not last a full five years and it will give you a good starting point.

10 catalogues from 1955 to 2000 would cover off a lot of product, the one-time issues didn't really kick in until the 80's so prior to 1980 the range is relatively stable.

Once you've done this, anything you still can't identify you can either post a picture here, or just broaden your downloads to fill in the gaps.

Personally, I'd grab as much as you can off that site while you can and build up your library of e-catalogues while you obtain printed copies at your leisure.

You can often find them on Ebay but if you prefer to put your money into trains rather than literature, do the download.

Regards

I bought my first Marklin Catalogue, locally, from Merv Smiths in 2002/03, and after looking and reading for a year got the 2003/04 one in '04 as well as joining the Marklin Insider Club thru the USA site which has provided me with one ever since apart from a couple of dark years when the Insider Club was insisting on bank drafts for payment, however I just ordered them from Lokshop with other new items.
When I got back into the hobby in '04 I set about to buy some earlier Catalogues on Trade Me, I've got a few old ones I got fom a certain member here, prior to his departure to Australia. However I quickly decided that nostalgia wasn't for me and digital with sounds where possible, and practical, was the way to go. So I bought them from 1995 to 2002, from the USA on Ebay usually paying around $US10.00 approx. However postage ($US30 approx) means they all owe me around $NZ50.00. Not cheap but I guess it is a case of how much I wanted them, but they've been an invaluable reference when looking to buy earlier items, on ebay ThumpUp

That site includes quite a few catalogs I scanned, but only the catalogs up to 1999.

I did scan the 2012 New Items catalog, that is available at: Marklin 2012 New Items catalog

Hi All,
As you can notice this is my first post in the forum, I know about Märklin users forum for a long time now, and I was browsing the forum now and then, but only a few days ago I decided to join you folks and try to help as much as I can, knowing that I am not an expert, just a Märklin fan since I was 8 years old, I am talking of 46 years now. Like most of you I left the hobby for a while then return, then left again and now here I am. During all these years and back & forwards I have build 3 Layouts using Märklin “M” track, which I now feel too noisy and “toy” looking, but I build a small 4’x6’ Layout for my 4 years old Grandson using some of the M track. At the moment I am collecting “K” track for a future Layout.

But what brought me here is the fact that I might have some helpful information about Märklin catalogs, I bought my collection of catalogues from 1930 to 2011 on e-Bay @ a very reasonable price. I know that they are in DVD and in PDF format but it is a very good way to get informed and to research that vintage information sometimes very much appreciated and always hard to find.

Check out these, if they will be for any help

I did ask those guys whether they were using my catalog scans, and they assured me they weren't, and that they had scanned them all themselves. I haven't bothered purchasing a copy of their DVD's to verify that.

Certainly, the guy in Australia selling catalog DVD's was using my scans - Nev kindly confirmed that.

However, I'm not sure what Marklin would think about people selling scans of their intellectual property (or if they would even care).

For Peter, I reckon this would be the way to go, ThumpUp
I may just invest in the 1980 - 2011 DVD myself, but also the 1930 - 1979 just to be informed and to refer too Wink
