I was wondering if anyone on the list will be attending Eurowest 2012 in San Carlos, CA this year toward the end of July. If people from the list are planning on attending I would be willing to host a BBQ and layout operating session at my house perhaps before or after the show. I live about 2 hours north of the Show (a lot of wineries in the area). If anyone is interested let me know and we can see if we can make something happen.

Hi Chris,
I just saw this posting as I had not been on for a few days.
Yes, I'll be there with a few new items, I hope.
I have also noticed a few members here that live in Northern Cal and I don't kow if they are ETE members.
There is one member from Stockton on the form that is a member of the Sacto Chapter.
I may even have my little Z scale layout finished and have on a table by the chapter's layout.
Naturally after the event we'll be visiting our friend in Windsor for Sunday & Monday nights.

Somewhat off topic- but does anyone have the contact info for the show organizer? (aka who is in charge of renting tables?)

I'd appreciate the contact. Feel free to PM/Email if a bit personal for posting online here

Tom,

I just noticed you are with the Eastern New England chapter.
So a coast to coast trip would be expensive.
Just like I would like to attend EuroEast in W. Springfiel, MA.
I was stationed at Westover AFB in the 60s when I met my wife.
She lived in Longmeadow and I has a part time job in Wilberham at the Friendly's Ice Cream factory.
I worked swing shift and when I would return to the base, several of the guys would ask if I brought some ice cream.
Those were the good 'ol days.

Well of course I will be at the Eurowest Event but one of these years I want to attend the EuroEast event. Anyway, my offer still stands if I would be willing to host a open house for my humble Marklin layout if people are in the area for the Eurowest event. We could always BBQ some burgers and have a beer or two and run some trains. Just let me know. Like I said I am about 1 hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Rob.

Getting there is not a problem. Just need the time off, a hotel room and a rental car.

I have some history with Westover and Friendly's.

Maybe see in July.

Just to let you all know, the Marriott Fairfield Inn has a special rate for EuroWest.
They also have special rates for AAA and Senior Citizens which is the lowest rate.
I'm glad I qualify for the lowest rate and get their rewards points.
Marcie and I normally arrive on Thursday as the traffic is easier than on Friday.

Oh no, a work conflict has come up and now I must travel that weekend at Eurowest. Cursing So I will try and arrange for an afternoon flight out of San Franisco on Saturday so I can spend the morning at Eurowest before I need to leave. I will probably end up spending the night on Friday.

Thanks Robert. What I need to do is join ETE. I am assuming the ETE groups get together on Friday evening and set things up, if so I think it would be fun to help out.

Should be a great weekend for trains. I tried to order the KCS and other car sets, but was stopped out by my credit c ard company.
What a bummer. They don't like foreign transactions. Maybe JPMorgan and Jamie Dimond should learn that lesson.

Lookong forward to seeing all the train Miesters.,

Hi ETE members,
Hope you all had a great show, programme sounded great ThumpUp .
I have been trying to contact my old friend Dave Pryor (mr marklin) with no success. Anybody sight him at the show, he usually has a table of Marklin for sale on Saturday ? Also he was the first member to build the new Modules for the current ETE Bay Area HO Modular Layout way back in 1994 IIRC.
