Hello Jasper,

The train is from the late 1920s / 1930s and is for the American market (two cowcatchers). It is either Gauge I or O Gauge. From the looks of it is is O Gauge, but then again the model number ends in "1" so that usually means Gauge I. However, the model number in the catalog was not 1031, I believe that was the running number. In the catalogs it is something like A VR 3031. "A" for American.

It has some of the other American version features such as the bell.

Best regards,

Paul

Hi Jasper,

I'am also not shure about the size. But for me it seems to be a 1-gauge loco for 45mm (~1 3/4 inch) rails. Then the loco should be ~ 9" long, the 0-gauge version is only 6.5" long. It was listed as "AVR 3130" (0-gauge) or "AVR 3131" (1-gauge)

It was produced between 1911 and 1914 and is for "weak current" system, which means 4-8 Volts DC.

A scan from the A13 (1913) catalogue for America:

Markus

Hi Jasper,

Yes, you should be very careful, it is rare and more or less expensive, depends on what you define as "expensive". At least more than a few hundred Dollars. The 1-gauge loco is more expensive than the 0-gauge version.

Saw that exact same loco in a shop window today ... was 1 Gauge, so ~9" long !

Unfortunately ... the shop was closed, so I didn't get the asking price .. but I'll be back there soon ^^

I've sent you about four different offers and I never heard back from you so I don't know what a 'good offer' is. If you aren't ready to sell, please don't temp us! I also believe that in the buy/sell section you must have a definite price in mind in your listing.

Hi Jasper,

I'm not intrested in buying your loco, but if you would like more information on it you can find that here ....

L I N K

A good place to sell this loco is Ebay.DE.

I think you are Dutch just like me, so perhaps you can ask the specialized shop "Jan Hollebeek" in Katwijk-Holland for the correct value of the loco.

We don't need 2 threads about the same subject., so I have merged them both.

If you're looking for a price reference, a similar example in rough condition sold for $160 here:

https://www.proxibid.com...=58715&lid=14794873#

While in better condition they go in the range of $600 - $800.

Best regards,

On the photos that Jasper posted I see item number "1031" on the loco.
According to the French forum (L I N K) this loco needs 115 volts to run !! Scared OhMyGod
Wow, I would not let my kids play with 115 volts. Blink
