Hi.

My Märklin railroad has been in storage since late 1980.
A visit to the local museum railroad (with steam engines) made my 3 year old son even more interested in trains. We lives close to a main track in Sweden so he ha been watching the trains for a long time nut now he got very interested in steam locos also :)

My old Märklin trains worked fine after 30 years in a box and my son loved it and it inspired me allot to. I only had 3 cars so i bought some more cargo cars and some C-tacks.

Todays layout- Johannes at the controls...

Steam engine going up on the duplo hill.

My old Swedish RC 3043

Future plans is to go digital and i have a digital start set (29940) on order but it is still some moths before estimated delivery (november).

We also plans to buy a house sometime and then i hope to have space for a permanent layout.

Yepp. My son wants a steam engine with a tender :) One with sound is on the future wish-list for us both.

Today we build a small Märklin track crossing the larger Brio railroad (only a small part visible)

This was a fun little layout we did build. I got some new passenger wagons on the layout.

We bought a house so next year i can start building a more permanent layout :)

Basement of the house.

The layout will be in Förråd 1 or Förråd 3. I haven't decided where yet.
Förråd 1 is 6m * 4.3m
Förråd 3 3.1m * 3.9m

Today i got some more tracks. Some used R9/R2 curves Flapper

I did order a 60944 high-efficiency motor conversion kit for future rebuild of my RC-lok (on the pictures above) to digital. I have to decide on a decoder later too.

I also ordered a 36610 green cargo locomotive.

Very nice, thanks !

^^ Seems that for Son N°1 (plus you N°+1) you need Förråd 1, no doubt ... ;)

Any extensions possible on this house in future ?
As an architect I'm interested in seeing the land parcel this house will be built on as well ... ;)

Great photos, your son sees magic I'm sure, enjoy !

I am thinking of using a part of Förråd 1 but not sure yet.

I don't think we will make an extension. I can move it up to the attic if i need place for a big layout.... Then i have like 8*17m....
I will add some more pictures tomorrow to.

Yes we are looking forward to move. Our 3 room apartment are getting little small now with 2 kids 1 and 3 years old :)

The brainstorm plan now is to build a layout later in Förråd 1. Probably a U shaped layout. About 3.9m wide. 3.5m (might be extended to 6m) one one side and 2.6m on the other. Each wing about 1.2 wide. NO idea about the layout yet but i will have time to think about it. I will probably not start the build until 2013 (smaller interim layout to test things before).

I want a double mainline with 1 or 2 stations. 1 or 2 single branchlines to and a shadow station.

I converted my old RC loco (3043) to digital and now i can run 4 locos at the same time.

Closeup on the newly converted RC loco. Runs fine with 5 pole conversion and Lokpilot V4 decoder. I change the light to a warmwhite led.

Next project is to convert my BR 24 loco with a loksound decoder.

We are slowly moving into the new house. I and my son did build a quick testlayout on the floor in the train room. This was a little test for building alongside the walls. I will propably make the train room area a little wider later.

Dark video. will fix more light later-...

This is a first small step toward a layout.

BR 80 with 18 (counted by my 3 year old son) cars.

We he lots o fun with the floor layout. I guess it will take until summer before we build a table for the first layout. Plenty of time to decide if we should build a large table in middle of the room or along the walls.

Hopefully you will get more space in the future for a layout. I had my years with lack of space :) Will be fun to have more room for the trains. Will move into the house this weekend.
