Hi Ray, very nice purchase. I would leave her "as is". It gives her character, I think. Natural aging,

so to speak. PeterThumpUp Smile

Thanks Peter,

I might just do that. Anyway, at normal viewing distance it's difficult to see the scratches (or maybe I need new glasses! BigGrin )

I might just rub off what's left of the paint on the buffers

WOW! I am truly amazed. BigGrin

The pictures are absolutely wonderful. You did a super job.

This is a fantastic assortment of trains.

How far is Gibraltar from Italy? Maybe I'll come by and pay admission. Just kidding.

I was not able to see the layout, though. When I click on it there is a message that it does not work.

So, you can only run two locos at a time? Is it because of the power supply? I thought one could run four easily.

Again, congratulations.

Silvano

Hi Silvano,

I'm very glad you enjoyed the pictures of my trains.

My layout is described in this thread:

http://www.marklin-users...tion-scene-finished.aspx

The plan shown on the first page is not what I ended up with. The final plan is visible later in the thread, and I'm currently working on an extension with three sidings.

The reason I can only run two trains is because I only have two tracks. The layout is too small for multiple routes. Maybe one day I can find more room for a bigger layout!

Thanks for your input, Ian.

I think I probably will. ThumpUp

She will still need a conversion to digital though...

The 37001 I pre-ordered from Lokshop is on its way:

Also included in the parcel will be a 60942 and 60943 to convert my 3040 E40 to digital. The conversion will feature a MLD decoder with mfx and 5 pole motor. I look forward to running her with my old 3039 Br110

Hi Ray,
A really nice model ThumpUp
I'd be curious to watch a video showing these new telex couplers in action...

Thanks Joël,

I already have a couple of locos with these couplers. The Kof III and the Br261 have them, and they work well with Marklin close couplers, but not so well with the older Relex couplers.

I'll try to show a video of them working in the next week or so.

Here's a photo of my new 37001 OBB 2048 on my layout.

She runs very smoothly and the sounds are good, though I again had to turn the volume right down to avoid disturbing the neighbours! Why do they make them so loud?

The couplings work as intended, though I haven't had the chance to use them over a long period. With these Telex types I try to only use Marklin close couplers for better reliability.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks. I think it's about the same weight as the old model.

Hi Ray, great lookin' old reliable Lok. It is a Euro-classic in my book. Anyway, try it out with an old relex coupler. I'm

just curious how it would work? Cheers,Peter

I had a quick test this morning, and the results will be disappointing to those who prefer the older Relex couplers.

Both the newer plastic type and the older all metal types behave in the same way. They will not be hooked at all by the Telex coupler. The Telex coupler "hook" is at a level which is about 1mm below the level of the loop on Relex couplers, so there is not a hope that they will couple up.

Fortunately I have a box of replacement close couplers (7205) for the newer types, but wagons with the older metal types will need a barrier wagon fitted with a close coupler at the loco end if shunting is required.

Lovely small diesel, Ray ThumpUp
Have you chosen OBB (not DB) version intentionally?
As for the sound, I also noticed that latest locos (37160 BR 94, 37565 Croc) are extremely loud! But I prefer they to be loud with possibility to decrease the volume, instead lack of volume like on my 39804 V 200.

Thanks Andrey,

Yes, I chose the OBB version as I already have the DB Br212 in both red and blue/cream liveries.

Also I wanted to add to my small range of OBB locos. I have the 1043 and 1141 electrics and the 2016 Hercules diesel. This loco brings me up to four, which means I can run an all OBB scene on my layout.

Hi Ray,
Thank you for reporting your tests.
Well, telex seems to be difficult to achieve for manufacturers . There must be so many different kind of couplers !
