Ian I'm in . The car will have a snow shovel and blankets etc in case the white stuff decides to fall. Anyone heading north to Ian's - follow me and together we'll get through. The same weekend last year saw me take 4.5 hrs to get from Lincoln to Leeds and then another 4.5hrs from Leeds to Linlithgow via the M62, M61,M6, M74, M8. The West coast didn't get the snow that weekend. Mike |

Just a quick note from a calculating magician. Please observe the following possible scenarios: Meeting place: 17th December 2011, this is one week before Christmas If its starts snowing and you can't get out of Marklin fort knox you'd have to spend Christmas under a Marklin tree John |

Hi Ian My BR01 and BR44 all packed and ready to go. Journey begins tomorrow afternoon culminating in the trip to BW on Saturday. (weather permitting - although they are saying the worst of the weather should be in Englandshire this time) Mike |

Hi all, Just checked the tarmac road coming down from the village and that's had a "gritter" on it, and is nearly clear. Then we have our lane, I thought a photo would best describe it, and of course then the parking, no problem if you stay on the white stuff. Ian. Hi Ian,
If the roads up from the M8 to the village and then out to you are passable, there should not be too much of a problem. Fortunately both are fairly straight and gently graded. Rather than snow, it was nearly all rain last night, though since I am only a couple of hundred yards from the sea, the weather I get is not a good guide to the rest of the country.
Perhaps if you were to post a report about nine o'clock tomorrow on the conditions then, we shall know if the meeting is on or off.
Bob M.

Hi Bob,
Bit of a thaw on just now, but the temperature tonight expected to drop to minus 3 or 4 degree's centigrade.
Will post weather conditions at 09.00 tomorrow morning.
Hopefully no more snow and the meeting should go ahead then.
See you at 11.00
Ian.

Hi Ian, It took me two and a half hours of shovelling the fluffy white stuff, to clear my driveway and the bit of road in front of my house this morning.
I shall be up early tomorrow morning to survey the situation. If the road is clear, You might get a call from me when I hit your village, so that you can tow me in with the 4X4 ;-)
My car is absolutely useless in the snow. Alan

Hi Alan,
The council gritter has the road cleared right to the point where our lane comes off.
I've put salt down on our lane, which should help with access tomorrow.
I'll post a weather update at 09.00 in the morning.
Ian.

Hi Ian, It has just started to snow here, albeit lightly. I don't think that it will be a show-stopper. Shame, I don't have my class 44 any longer, I coild have used it to pull my car out of the snow

Hi all,
It's not snowing here, but we have about 15cm lying, and very icy.
Take care on the road coming down from the village, had another look and it's a bit slippy.
I'll understand if you don't make it along, you know what those big Merc's are like.
Ian.

Ian, The BR23 clicks on my C track. I suspect that it could be requiring a drop of lubrication possibly. I shall try that. Alan

Hi Tom, Actually, it is a brand new 39230, all singing, all dancing BR23 with Softdrive Sinus propulsion and maintenance free motor. It has only been run for about maybe two hours.
I had not noticed the clicking before and it was only today when we had the meeting that we spotted it. I have returned home and tried it on my C track and it does the same thing.
It is not just the clicking. When in motion, the centre pair (of the driven) wheels seem to be lifting up ever so slightly off the track. Looking at the loco from either the front or the side, you can see it visibly rock from side to side. I can see no binding in the valve mechanisms and can see no chaffing.
I thought maybe it might need some lubrication. The manual recommends Marklin 7149 oil and Trix 66626 (I assume a grease of some sort). Can you possibly offer some advice. Thanks in advance, Alan
